Winter Updates: 80+ New Nebraska Waypoints and Trail Intel
While thru-hikers rest, ADT navigation keeps improving. This week: 80+ new Nebraska waypoints from Rhiis and Sara, Steve Gefell's Nevada and Utah notes, and verified trail angel updates across five states. The continuous work that keeps your navigation current year-round.
The American Discovery Trail is completely quiet right now. The last thru-hikers either finished their journeys or stopped for the winter. Most aspiring hikers are deep in planning mode, building resupply strategies and working through their gear lists.

While the trail sleeps, I've been updating your navigation resources with fresh intelligence from the field.

Major Nebraska Update
Rhiis and Sara, spending the winter in Southern California, shared over 80 new waypoints across Nebraska Segments 1-3, covering camping, resupply resources, trail angels, and some fascinating discoveries along the trail, including one I particularly love: the Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Plant in Lincoln.

Opened in 1974, this facility sprawls across more than 300 acres and employs over 2,000 people. Inside, Kawasaki produces an unlikely mix: ATVs, Jet Skis, subway cars, passenger rail cars, and even Boeing jet doors. It's the only factory in the United States that builds passenger rail cars from start to finish.
This is precisely the kind of Americana discovery that makes the ADT special.
Pocketful of Notes

Coming This Week - Steve Gefell, who just finished his thru-hike earlier this month, provided six pages of detailed notes from Nevada and Utah. These will be integrated into those segments over the next few days - real-world navigation intel from someone who just walked the ADT this year!
Other Recent Updates:
- Trail Angel contact information verified in Ohio Segment 6, Indiana North Segment 3, Illinois South Segment 1, and Maryland Segment 3
- Camping details around Lyndon Station in Kansas, Segment 7 - HT SurfaceArise89 & Ember'25
- Navigation notes added throughout Indiana South Segment 9
This is the continuous work that keeps your GPS data and turn-by-turn guides current - updates happen year-round based on what hikers share from the field. 🥾
