If you're planning to hike the Rock Island Trail south of Pleasant Hill this year, there's something worth knowing before you head out. 🥾
The MO Route 7 bridge over Big Creek is being replaced, and construction running from spring through the end of 2026 will cause intermittent trail closures during demolition and key construction phases. Outside those windows, the trail stays open.
Here's the catch: there's no officially signed detour when the trail is closed. We've mapped one for you. View it on Gaia GPS and the Turn-By-Turn Guides.
Closure windows aren't on a fixed schedule, so check current conditions before committing to this section, especially if you have transportation logistics built around a specific route.
