The ADT Guide has updated Missouri directions, maps, and hiker notes to include the recently opened Second Phase of the Rock Island Rail Trail on the American Discovery Trail.

Update: Missouri Segment 1

The ADT Guide has updated Missouri Segment 1 directions, maps, and hiker notes to include the recently opened Second Phase of the Rock Island Rail Trail on the American Discovery Trail. The update also includes 26 new waypoints for services along the segment in the Turn-By-Turn directions and our Gaia GPS folders.

The first phase of the RIT was completed in June 2019 and was 6.4 miles. The second phase was opened in July 2021 with an additional 7 miles, for a total length of 13.5 miles.

The Vale Tunnel (at top) is lit 24/7 and is one of the centerpieces of the trail between Raystown and Lee's Summit.
