We have a MAJOR update to an Illinois Segment along the Southern Route of the American Discovery Trail. The now 40-page Illinois South Seg 3 includes the western end of the River to River Trail in "The Land of Lincoln."
From Grand Tower, the trail first passes through the LaRue-Pine Hills Research Area and it's massive 150 ft bluffs. We've included an alternate Sidetrip to Inspiration Point – a popular Mississippi River overlook atop the bluffs. Then its through the Clear Springs and Bald Knob Wildernesses of the Shawnee National Forest. The trail goes around Little Cedar Lake and into the quaint, unique village of Makanda - home of former US Senator and once Presidental candidate, Paul Simon. This segment passes through the Giant City State Park and its massive rock canyons and formations before ending in Goreville at the north entrance Ferne Clyffe State Park.
The update includes 40+ new waypoints and hiker notes and finetunes the track of the ADT based on new traces. The updated track and waypoints are now live in The ADT Guide on Gaia GPS and included in a complete update of Turn-By-Turn directions and higher resolution maps.

We have increased map resolution to 2 miles/page in this update. Also added are services and hiker notes from The ADT Guide on Gaia GPS to the Turn by Turn directions.
