Missouri Segment 4 & 5
This month, we have added extensive hiker notes for the American Discovery Trail that follows the KATY Trail through central Missouri.
The KATY Trail through Rhineland, Missouri takes a slightly more southern route than is described in the American Discovery Trail old turn-by-turns. The correct track has been updated in our maps and uploaded to The ADT Guide on Gaia GPS.
New Snow Overlay for Gaia GPS
Whether you are planning your ascent over the Sierra Nevada or the various ranges through Utah and Colorado, Gaia GPS Premium has added a new layer to its huge assortment of maps that provides daily snow information.
This map taps into hundreds of remote SNOTEL weather sensors to show just how much snow fell over the last 24 hours in mountain zones around the west.

The American Discovery Trail In The News
The Old Spanish Trail Association works to highlight Indigenous history of Old Spanish Trail. In Colorado, the Association is currently working with tribes to update signage on segments of the route. The signage they hope to include is a brief acknowledgement of groups that have used the trail, before it became known as the Old Spanish Trail.
"Ranger Erika Burns was patrolling near the submerged Katy Trail at McBaine, when she exited her patrol vehicle...began to hear cries for help coming from the water."
